RAVE® apples are produced from the ‘MN55’ apple variety developed by the University of Minnesota. ‘MN55’ was developed from a cross between ‘Honeycrisp’ and ‘AA44’, a variety from the University of Arkansas. This innovative cross has resulted in a widely popular apple that exhibits early ripening, excellent coloration, and unique crisp and tart flavor across multiple environments.
RAVE® brand ‘MN55’ apples have the ability to extend your production season and provide brightly tart, irresistibly juicy eating experience to your orchard - give it a try and see what everyone is raving about!
‘MN55’ meeting grade standards and grown in Minnesota is sold under the First Kiss® trademark. If you are a Minnesota grower please contact superiorfruit@umn.edu for access to the exclusive MN license.
Please note: This apple has also demonstrated an unusually long storage life for an early ripening variety. It requires attention to established cultural practices to control biennial bearing and fruit drop.
