Virtual Epidemic Teaches about Public Health Issues and Practices

Epidemic! is an online game that educates users about the essential work performed by public health professionals through simulating tasks performed by a team of public health professionals during an epidemic. Each player chooses a role and then works with other players to stop the spread of the disease while facing real-world decisions and challenges. As the epidemic progresses, players must try to figure out its cause and contain it. Epidemic! can be used in a classroom setting for students to work together in the exploration of the public health field and learn more about public health careers. An instructor’s guide with ideas for using Epidemic! in the classroom is available at the website.
