E-booklet on chronic wasting disease
Researchers at the Minnesota Center for Prion Research and Outreach (MNPRO™) have developed an informative and captivating e-booklet that describes the nature, transmission and progression of chronic wasting disease. With succinct, easy-to-read descriptions and attractive graphical illustrations, this 28 paged e-booklet provides a basic understanding of the disease in an engaging way for both kids and adults in multiple communities. The e-booklet is available in several versions, including two different colors (grayscale, full color) and two different languages (English, Hmong). Additional languages will be added in the future.
Chronic Wasting Disease
Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) is a severe and contagious disease that fatally affects animals in the cervid family (deer, elk, caribou, reindeer and moose). The disease causes brain degeneration in infected animals resulting in weight loss, abnormal behavior, and death. CWD is an emerging prion disease requiring immediate national attention as it is slowly spreading through cervid populations in the USA and Canada.
