Sample

A 4-mm punch biopsy was acquired from a 34-yr old Caucasian male, fixed and vertically sectioned into 200-micron thick sections.

Biomarkers

The sample was stained with antibodies to visualize nerves (PGP9.5, green) and with the plant lectin, Ulex europeaous-FITC (red) which binds to follicular keratinocytes.

Acquisition

This image was captured using laser scanning confocal microscopy at 200X magnification and is a projection of fifty two-micron optical sections.
